Technically it's for both level and pressure, no oil would = no pressure obviously. But no pressure could mean a few things eg. worn or tired oil pump, blocked oil galleries, blocked filter etc. But as PH said it could also be your wiring, check the wire going to the bottom drivers side of the block just above the sump. It will be where you find the oil pressure/level switch. Which brings me to my next theory... You may just have a faulty switch that needs replacing. So give those a try in this order - 1)Check wiring, 2)Change oil and filter, 3)Replace oil pressure switch 4)Check oil pressure with appropriate gauge and or replace oil pump. If the problem persists, there may be something you could do to send a blast of pressure thru the galleries to dislodge anything that might be your problem. I'm not sure if that could be performed as i have never heard of it being done. Either way, give the above mentioned a try.
Cheers,
Jasyn... |
