the birth certificate in the box of my rockford amp (punch 160) reckons itll belt out 279W rms @ 2 ohms. at the moment its 2 channels are bridged @ 4 ohms to run a single 12, can i wire it up to run the single sub @ 2ohms? sorry if its a stupid question. cheers,goons |

well if it sais its 2 ohm stable you should be able to, or else you will cook your amp or the sub, i bridged my x-plode 2 channel amp to 1 channel -(760watt rms 2 ohm aparently) and the thermal cutout kept turning it off coz its not stable at 2 ohm.
anyway it should tell you how to wire it up to 2 ohm you might need 2 subs and put them in series
...or is it paralell to lower the ohms??

you'd need either two subs, or a sub with a double voice coil setup. |

on a 4ohm amp, 2x4ohm subs wired in parallel will drop the ohms to 2ohms. |

yeah thanks lads, i was hoping there was some conceivable way to do it with one s.v.c sub. how do i wire two subs in parallel then? |
