Just a quick question, whats needed to get oil pressure and water temp gauges running in a gem? any additional senders/sensors required to be put on the motor?

the electrical ones have a sender unit
the mechanical ones have thick cords and run off water passign by or by oil turning a cog |

I went and had a look at the gauges last night (their second hand), the water temp had 3 wires off the back; im guessing 1 is positive, 1 is ground and the 3rd would go to the thermostat/temp sensor? the oil press. gauge has two wires (pos and ground) and a brass elbow off the back, im guessing a line would run from the gauge to the engine somewhere?

nah the oil guage would probably be mechanical so the 2 wires would be for the light so 1 is ground and other goes to dash light circuit. Mechanical guages dont need power, only do if they have an internal light |
