i just looked in the R&D forum and it says that the TX engine has 63 kw so i doubt that a g200 has 2 more kw!!!
from what i have heard g200's have 100-110hp and im not sure but roughly thats about 80 something kw's. |

tx 1600 (pre-adr 27a) 63kw - 84hp
tx, tc, td 1600 (adr 27a) 61kw - 82hp
te, tf, tg 1600 50kw - 67hp
kb rodeo 1800 63kw - 84hp
kb rodeo 2000 65kw - 87hp
same for 2000 out of jackaroo
all from 50 years of holden book |

According "50 Years Of Holden" 65KW is right. It feels about right 2 me too, i've only driven a few Gems and that figure feels right on the 'seat of the pants' scale. The most major thing i noticed after bolting a G200 into my TX, was the torqeyness of the engine. It feels similar in revability, juuuuust not quite as smooth at the top end, but launches reasonably harder of the lights. Especially slightly damp roads - the rears go to light up with any kind of sudden throttle squirts.
I was asking a little while ago if anyone had the torque figures for the G200 for a comparo to the 1600, but alas no one could help.
In short, it feels as though it has approx 10+ KW over a TG SL/X, very similar 2 da TX, but has prolly 15 odd NM of torque over either engine.

i gather the 65kw g200 had the emission control gear like the tg g161, if this was the case removing it should increase kw by 1 or 2 also extractors and new filter should help. removing the water pump and putting in an electric one and using a thermo fan should get a bit more. id estimate a bit over 70kw is achievable by doing this.
anyone know how much extra power can be had by using the g161 head???
the main diff between the late tx, tc, td g161 and the te onwards one is the compression ratio being decreased from 8.7 to 8.3. the g200 also had 8.3
so....
if this .4 difference in compression plus the emission gear equals a reduction of 11kw from 61 to 50, then removing emission gear from g200 plus increasing compression by using g161 head should equal at least this much which means the 65kw increases to about 77
does this make any sense
add the filter extractors should get about 80kw
tell me if im way off track, but this sounds about right to me (not that ive done it mind you just a bit of theory) |

four plus performance in nsw have a gemini with the g161 producing just under 80 kw its fully worked but still normaly aspirated and only one dual throat 38mm webber.
all i know is that its fitted out with g180 pistons and has a hell of a lot of head & cam work |

my mildly cam'd g200 makes 112Kw at the flywheel which dynoed at 108hp at the wheels.
So they can make good power. It's all in the headwork.
cheers

Hey Mooch... If a mildly cam'd g200 makes 112Kw at the flywheel which dynoed at 108hp at the wheels, What will a Hot cam and some headwork give me?
I am looking at roughly 125-130Kw @ flywheel, do you think its possible? |
