ok, people keep talking about wheel offset, but what is it. I know about stud patterns and height and width, but what is this offset you all speak of, and how do I know what to buy and how to find out what offset is what on 2nd hand wheels?
thanks heaps, zep |

Offset is the relative centre of the wheel in comparison to the mounting point, i hope i worded that right... Hence its offset from the centre, but the engineers have designed the wheel to sit that way, so to check offset there is generally a label of ET25, for example, would be a 25mm offset. Check the rims you're buying for this... Hope that helps ya |

adding to that also it stops excessive stresses on the axles/bearings, etc, a mate of mine changed his offset too much and fucked his bearings and had heaps of trouble trying to allign it before the bearings went... |
