Ahhh, hullo. B4 u tell me 2 search and all the other stuff, yes i have already done it. I just spent the last hour and a half looking for related info. In amongst the steaming pile of useless crap i found a couple of tidbits to use and abuse, Buuuuut.......
Have u eventually found a place that does SR20DET conv. relatively cheaply ? My mate is upgrading his Commo 4 a TD, and plans on an SR20 swap-over. He's selling his $12,000 blown VN 2 fund it. He's just bought the TD, and needs guidance on somewhere in Brisvegas that can do the job right first time. He wants to do the conversion on the cheap, so alot of the 12k can be spent on go-fast mods. For example, he's ready to lay down the cash for one of the new GT34RS (or whatever the part name is) turbos from HKS for the engine.
He's sourcing the engine right now, i put him onto another mate that told me he had access to a few SR20's dirt cheap and fully legit. Have u got a few recommendations on workshops that are capable of the conv. ? Obviously not over-priced places are preferred.
In one of the posts i found in the search, u said that nobody makes an actual kit for the swap, but that was in the 'Old Forum', so alot can change after u made that post. I was hoping you'd made new connections, or learnt a little more about this subject. Who made your mounts and crossmembers etc...
And just in case you bring it up - NO! he does not want to put the supercharged V8 into the TD. He has plans for an SR20DET and thats the way he wants it.
P.S This guy is definately not a dreamer or a 'Gunna do it', as i said B4 he has a blown VN ready to fund this project. So any new info on contacts u can share 2 get this puppy happening will get it on the road quicker.
Thnx dude |

But just out of curiousitys sake, who did/is doing your mounts and other mods ? And have u found any good workshops that do this sort of dealio ? |

eh, if you want an sr20 into a gem, i got a close mate of mine that does engine conversions relatively cheap. if you are a lazy bugger and dont want to do a damn thing - he'll do the conversion for $4300 drive in - drive out. he's situated at ipswich - but he knows his stuff alright. im sure gene wouldnt dare argue that point - the 1J hilux
anyway, if you wanna know more - gimme a bell |

Cheers both of ya's.
Gemtec, once my mate has the engine in hand it's up to him on what he'll do. We're (all my mates) by no means lazy, so my mate will most likely end up contacting you to get hold of this dude u r reccomending. We will no doubt need a pro for advice and specialist parts - and maybe wiring. We will most likely do the majority of labour.
I cant wait 2 get my hands dirty on this one. If i had the cash, i'd do it in a second. Man, sometimes i hate friends that earn over $500 p/w and dont have 2 pay 4 rent, food or bills. But i should look at da bright side i spose - i know he's gonna let me sliiiiide it, he's already made the drunken promise with too many witnesses hehehe. |
