Hey Gemini fans,
I was Cruzing yesterday nite, when I noticed that the motor was making a Loud nocking noise (like tin cans) when i put the foot down. (is this Valve bounce?),
I have only done about 2500 Kms since the last service, I ajusted the valves clearances myself to G161 specs when the service was done.
Its been going like a rocket with no probs till now.
any idears???
The motor is stock exept for extrators. (i think)
Do G180 have different gaps to a G161???
Cheers. |

What fuel are you running? Try PULP.
A motor can valve bounce at any speed. |

I disagree. Valve bounce is when the valve spring doesn't shut the valve before the cam starts to open it again. This stops the motor building compression. Usually this is at higher revs unless you've got a broken or weak spring.
Sounds like it's "pinging" (fuel igniting before normal spark ignition). Check your timing. Watch what fuel you use. A motor with even a little bit of work can have high enough compression that a batch of shit fuel will cause pinging. |
