Er, I wrote a long and elaborate response then accidentally cleared it, so instead you can get the short version.
In your modified engine a coil upgrade would probably be worthwhile on the condition that you upgrade the rest of the system at the same time, for in a standard gemini ignition the points are the weak link, hence the ballast resistor. If you thoroughly upgrade the entire ignition system then you may want to consider upping your spark plug gap, which should increase the burn rate and percentage combustion. Just play around with it, go nuts.
As for boring a gemini block, try making it watch "who wants to be a millionaire" or "Judge Judy" that could bore anything to death.
or
As for boring a gemini block, to bore for two litre slugs we are talkng 197 thou, er, you asked "can u safely bore a gemini block to fit the 2 lt pistons" that REALLY REALLY depends on what you mean by 'safely' cos, well you can and lots of people have and do...... er, of course there is two ways to go about it, bore to 197 thou over, fit a standard monotorque gasket and bolt it all back together again.
The other route is to bore to 197 thou, o-ring the block and fit a custom copper gasket and use brand new head bolts.
Er, either way you go you may or may not end up losing a headgasket, but well if you choose the shoddy route expect to lose a headgasket, if you do it properly be prepared for it happen but it is not much more likely than losing a headgasket on an hot stockish engine.
