I'm very likely (finances permitting) going to get a piazza front chop (turbo, efi and electronics) for my 77 TC G161z, and I've been reading you guys talking about decompression plates and dish top pistons to reduce the risk of detonation.
I'm probably not going to run an intercooler to start with, so I wont be going above 7psi boost, but should this be ok on a stock motor, or should I decompress it a bit?

I would keep the boost and compression stock until an intercooler can be sourced, any major drop in compression will make the car an absolute pig to drive 75% of the time. I would never consider dropping the static compression below 8.2:1, personally I don't even like the idea of reducing it at all...
Save your pennies and fit the biggest I/C you can fit/afford before you start upping the boost. |
