I finally tracked down a 4ZC1, havent taken delivery yet, but hopefully it will be in by Feb next year. But can someone explain the purpose of a surge tank? The way I see it is the stock pump feeds the surge tank, then a high pressure fuel pump (like out of a VL) feeds the injectors @ 15psi or so. Is this right? Why do this? Will I have to make a surge tank, or can I buy one, maybe from a wreckers?
Cheers. |

The purpose of a surge tank is to supply a constant supply of fuel. If you don't run a surge tank you'll find that when you go around corners the fuel in the tank will run to one side and leaving no fuel to pump to the injectors. Check out HOT4's December issue on page 14, you'll find a place to ring. |

Also, if you run out of juice in an EFI engine, crap in the tank can suck through and really screw up your injectors - hell, crap in my tank almost wrecked my carby! |
