hey all...
i own a 78 td gemini lets take a deep breath..
i was runing the car reving it and shit to show one of my friends and when i went to turn the engine off i turned the key the wrong way and of course it made that crunching noice that cars make when you try to start it when its already running.
Any way when i tred to start my car up again a little while later id turn the key on start and all it would do was the lights on the dash just dimmed like some sort of drain on the battery , i took the leads off and cleaned them up a bit and i opened the distributor cap and i cleaned the peice of metal that rotates to all the points , i put the distributor cab back together and reattached all the leads and went to start it .
the starter moter was turing over now but when you pump a bit of petrol in the engine a pop bang noise comes out of the carbie and then follows black misty smoke coming out of the carbie (backfiring out of the carbie) i need to know what could be wrong with it , and how much it would cost to get it fixed..

When my mate was fitting a g180 and we went to start it it turned over but wouldn't start. Then there was a bang and a puff of white smoke came out of the air filter. We figured out that we had the spark plug leads on the wrong way around making the spark go out of order. Try going over the leads and make sure they are in the right order. |
