Can anyone help, I'm sure this is come up hundreds of times on the forum, but where would I get my hands on a remote brake fluid bottle for my TG gem. I've got twin webers with the shitty side draft S-bend manifold. Should I get a down draft manifold or what? |

tx gemini's had the remote brake fluid cups that i believe your talking about. you'll need the master cylender and brake booster and the steel hoses that connect it to that other brake "thingy" (what is this, anyway???). Clean it out, maybe even get the master cylender recoed, and chuck it on. The best thing about this configuration is that the bottle can be placed as far back towards the firewall as you want (or towards the front of the car even) depending on how long you have the hoses coming from the cup.
All TE Diesel gemini's ive seen also have the same brake booster setup, but i believe that the "thingy" i was refering to before is somewhat different in these models and as im not exactly sure on its purpose id suggest the tx option.
good luck! |

You can also remove the reservoir off the standard master cylinder and custom fit lines to a remote reservoir. Think the metal thingy you're talking about is the pressure differential/limiting valve.

I think u r referring to the proportioning valve. It can be adjusted to set the brake bias for the front and rears.
ie 30% rear 70% front etc etc.

From memory the earlier remote setup isn't as good as the later models. You may find that your gem won't stop as good as it would with the original non-remote. My TF stops a million times better than my TX ever did, even after a complete brake overhaul on the TX. |

when I fitted twin webers on my TG, I tapped a thread in inside collers where the fluid bottle fits, the with some brass fittings I was able to fit some burrs for hose then I used the TX remote bottle and hoses in between, that way I did not have to change the break lines |

hmm... come to think about it id kind of agree... when i put a tx booster/master cylender in my te the brakes did go somewhat squishier than before. so what your suggesting is that a tg brake booster & master cylender with brass L pipes tapped into it would be a much better option for any existing system?
does anyone know if there are any changes in the actual calipers / drums between early and late model gemmi's?? and whats the deal with diesel rear drums? i thought they were supposed to be bigger & better than normal ones but when i had a look at them they look the same size if not smaller... anyone found this too?? |

The early geminis used duo-servo drumms (up and including some TDs) whereas the later geminis used leading trailing (including some TDs and onwards)... to confuse matters further, there a couple of sizes of slave cylinders listed (in the parts catalogue I was reading at autobarn).
So I am sure with some fiddling and mixing/matching of master cylinders/slave cylinders you could find something which gave good feel and stopped the car well... maybe one of the gemini lakeside guys would know? |

The earlier master cylinder is larger the the late ones, hence the Tx is harder to stop ... Michael |
