i smashed the selectors and i have a desel one sitting here.
well i fixed the selectors in my gem and its all good now.
but i was thinking the desel ratios ar smaller meaning u would get up to speed alot faster!!!! thats a good thing right!??!!? except instead of getting a top speed of 180 it would only be say 160. i might try it out actually

Ratios for 4spd/5spd and diesel are as follows

Early 4spd Late 4spd 5spd Petrol 5spd Diesel
1st : 3.51 3.79 3.79 3.48

2nd : 2.18 2.18 2.18 1.99

3rd : 1.42 1.42 1.42 1.36

4th : 1.00 1.00 1.00 1.00

5th : n/a n/a 0.86 0.86

So you can see top speed won't be affected due to 4/5 gear being the same in all boxes.

But hey i'm in sydney and may be interested in the diesel boxs. IF it at the right price. They are great for rally style gemini. Wouldn't make a hell of a lot of difference on the street, but on the dirt where u use 1/2/3 gear alll the time it cool..

So if any one has one i'm interested

According to that, unless you made a mistake, the petrol five speed has lower ratios on 1-2-3, while the diesel one has slightly taller ratios to take advantage of the extra torque offered by deisel.
