People,
Yeah! Some really good cars out on Friday night. I am going to email some pics to Joe when I get the chance.
We had some mint panelvans out, as well as a few nice sedans and a really good orange coupe (one of only two coupes on the cruise!). No dramas from the police, and everyone was well behaved except for the turkey in the dunga blue TE who though he'd do a burnout on War Memorial Drive. OK, so if you going to attract the cops (cops + Geminis = defects) then at least pull a decent one! Thankfully nothing came of it and we were all safe. Some of the cruise were pulled into an RBT and one fella got done for no rego and no licence, but he pleaded ignorant and got away with a no rego fine only - plus it was only 3 days out - after 30 it's a higher fine, apparently.
In total over the whole cruise, we had a total of 23 cars (plus a Silvia, but he WANTS a Gemini, he tells us) which is more than the official 25th Anniversary of the Gemini cruise organised by the Gemini Car Club earlier in the year.
Sick! Pics to come soon, but note - the light wasn't that good so some of the pics will be from Small Car Sunday, but only of the cars that were actually on the Gemini Panelvan Cruise on Friday night.
I was the organiser and instigator of the cruise and want to say a HUGE THANKS to everybody for coming along. I got a lot of positive feedback and some real enthusiasm to encourage me to organise another one. Thanks to all the people who gave me their name, ph/email and what car they drove - and that was almost everyone! Especially big thanks to all the wagon and panelvan owners that got their beasts out there and showed Adelaide that killer Gemini panelvans are, well, killer! They were a top sight to see cruising Jetty Road down the Bay, and through Rundle Street in town.
Special thanks go to:
- Steve at Just Gemini Spares for putting some pamphlets on his counter and giving us a take-off point;
- Sean for bringing his show-winning van along and for putting the pamphlets at Cartronics;
- Matty for bringing out the Black Turbo - lets see the Ute next year;
- Kingsley for bringing his orange van all the way from Murray Bridge;
- Robert for supplying us with a nice coupe and Michael for bringing along his clean & green TG sedan.
- Ant who helped organise it, then realised he couldn't go!
- Ross who had the only twin-cam (I think).
- Ashley who tried to get down from Loxton but didn't make it - he brought is pristine TG van to Small Car Sunday though
If you want any pics emailed directly to yourself, email me at gemini_panelvan@hotmail.com and I'll organise something.
I'm gonna try to organise one for late Feb/early March. Perhaps a day cruise incorporating a barbeque for lunch or something.
I'll be in touch and stay tuned to this site. Killer!
