sorry to say but your problem is pretty mayjor ive seen it before what has happened is your sump is only quite thin except for wear the plug goes in there is a block of metal that contains the thread this is normaly secured to the sump but some how it may have broken lose causing your plug to turn freely.

good luck

if you can get the bolt out you aint getting it back in.

2 options:
A> take out engine and replace sump.
B> go to a hardware shop, find a bolt that is wider than the origional plug, a corrisponding thread tapping tool and a drill bit to use with the tapping tool. Take the sump plug out [somehow...screwdriver? vicegrips?], drill the hole out, use the tapping tool to make new threads and use your new bolt as the plug with a copper sealer washer and hopefully thatll fix it.

good luck!

option 2 is still gunna require the sump out as after you drill it out, its going to be full of metal shavings... Michael

i dont think thatll make too much trouble - have you opened up an oil filter after 10,000km's and seen the amount of metal shavings in there? if your real worried you could even do another oil change after a few weeks.

Mate, you most likely have a threaded sump plug.....that sucks.

You can take off your sump (oil will go everywhere), go to a metal workers and get them to thread a new bolt hole in the sump housing and supply a correct sized plug for it.

Good luck buddy.
