Hi all,
I am a little concerned about the old pressure in my gem and hoping that its not a tired engine begging to break down and get rebuilt.
Its a g180w dohc and lately i have noticed a slight all round oil pressure drop. It used to hover just between 2 and 4 kg/cm but now hovers right around the 2 mark
the guage goes up to around 8 so i am guessing this is rather low on the scale of things.
Is this becuase of lack of oil? i got the thing serviced and im not actually sure if this engine uses more than a stock gemini cause of the bigger head and 2 cams, there is a chance the workshop who did it may have looked up gemini and just chucked how ever many litres a stock gemini uses.
Any suggestions??
thanks! |

How much oil is in the engine and how thick the oil is can be factors in oil pressure. My sohc is usually just over 5kg/cm (gauge goes up to 6), would have thought the dohc would run about the same oil pressure if not higher. Checked your dipstick? |

well yeah my guage now goes off the clock over 6kg/cm or 80 psi and its a stock oil pump but yeah have you checked your oil?
if its full it might be the sender and if that fails its a new oil pump then |

Its definatly not low. I'll change the oil tomororw, i got told it takes just under 5 litres, that would be about right yeah? i'd say itd take more than a sohc cause of the extra cam etc...
thanks guys |
