the rear drums on my gem are rusted and need to be replaced
and the front pads need replacing and the disks need machining. then it all needs to be bled. i got quoted $800 with a new master cylinder but i think someone is trying to rip me off. how much should this sort of thing cost? i dont mind using secondhand parts if it will be cheaper |

Master approx $250 recon
frnt pads approx $50 to $60
rr pads appox $30 to $50
machine rr drum and frnt disc approx $15 each
but please remember if you do this your self you will save the labour costs which these days inc tax is about $35 to $50 per hour so even if it takes 4 hours theres at the best
will cost $ 140 labour and $390 parts you can add the worst case sinario up yeah id say hes rippin you off and what ever you do dont buy second hand the brakes are your life and others!!! |

This is talking parts from repco, but assuming you need new rotors your looking $100 a pair, because very few gemini discs can be machined, they are normally too thin.
Front pads will be about $90 fitted, rear shoes will require cylinders as well, because you cannot fit shoes without cylinders, youll be looking about $200 for the complete job. Master cylinder will be $150 for the rekit about $80 to fit it, and another $40 to bleed the brakes. All up I think your looking $670. So if hes |
