Kamakazi, buddy, I've got some bad news for you.

It goes like this; I sent that foto to Joe about four or so years ago when HotGemini was a one-page internet site - something he set up for a Uni project, I think.

Anyway, the way he wrote it, he could only put the caption " 's Gemini" in there - so he wrote Panelvan Dave meaning me, and the automated caption thingy did the rest. It probably wasn't the best system, because although I sent the picture in, it's not my car.

The car is a German Opel Kadett C2, the update of the original C, which looks much like a TD.

The C2 was released in about 1978 I think, and the one in the picture has been fitted with a body kit, also from Germany, called the Mattig Extrem.

I imagine that getting something looking like that would require a call to the Mattig people in Germany, but I'm not sure if the kit would still exist - a decent Kadett C is a hard thing to come across in ultra-modern Germany, so most people keep their cars original, or hot them up while keeping original body lines.

Here's a recommendation for you - see if you can't find some pictures of the Vauxhall Chevette HSR - many companies did reproduction HSR kits for the Chevette, which would only need a few modifications to fit to a Gemini. Namely, the kit have the car huge wheelarches that allowed fitment of 13"x10" wheels!!! Yep, those funky 70s, hey?

Hope that's of some help.

Cheers,

Dave
PS - my car's not quite that interesting
