hey all
im thinking of supercharging my 1.8. i wish to run a 4AGZE 1 type super charger and use a draw through type configuration. i only want to run it at a low boost because i dont wish to modifiy the engine internals (yet).im wondering if it will make some difference.i know it wont be no 9 second street car, i just want to be able to give people a surprised look when a gemini van hisses past them.can you run blow off valves in these?. any ideas would be good, ive seen this done before on a corolla and that went pretty hard.
thanks |

Most factory 'chargers have an internal compressor by-pass valve (what everyone wrongly calls a 'blow off valve') so you won't get the fabled sound. Perhaps take a look at Drago Ostric's engine bay as that's the s/c that he's using. |

Sounds a lot like what Drago Ostric has done to his gemini wagon. All i know is it is an isuzu G180 and it has a 4AGZE Toyota supercharger running custom fuel injection and manifolds. It runs 15psi of boost, but features a pretty impressive internals list. |

I dont see why you couldn't use a cheap bosche BOV (about $60) and vent it back to the manifold between blower and throttle body. This will dump the extra air if those blowers dont have a valve built in.
If you can handle making the bracketry and pulley system, then mouting a carb or whatever, it shouldn't be that hard. I have heard that a lot of people have trouble with extractor clearance though.

I don't think you want to use a blow off valve with a suck through setup, as you will be dumping fuel-air mix into the engine bay-very bad idea! |
