This has been discussed by the forum about 40,000,000 times, but here's the basic deal.
Holden Red engines are a bitch to install, so don't bother.
Holden V6 is a little easier, but remember that your car will need hefty brakes - larger diameter vented discs on the front at least, and possibly a disc rear depending on your state of residence. Then there's the electronics to sort out, the electric-to-cable speedometer problem, new radiator (I recommend a Gemini Diesel unit recored to triple core), chassis stiffening and the engineers certificate.
I reckon you could have it done for you, without doing any labour yourself, for about $7-8000 including engineers report. That's my plan anyway. I ain't got the time!
Castlemaine Rod Shop do a kit for the engine mounts, V6 sump and speedo. They also do a kit to fit vented Ford rotors to a Gemini too. |
