just a quick q. how quick (roughly) will my gem do the quarter?
td with 12a extendport and 48mm webber
custom extractors into twin system till diff then straight through muffler
rx5 5 speed
3.9 gemi diff
the engine was dyno'd at 129hp at the wheels in an rx2 without the webber and crappy exhaust and also an automatic. |

extendport!!?
you tool!
that engine will need to be pushed across the line unless you get a rebuild, they need rebuilding every 6mths. extendport fucks them. its not functional unless its a weekend racer. |

why is he a tool? at least he has had the motivation to do the conversion. they say that about all rotarys that they need to be rebuilt every six months, not just extend port it depends on how hard you drive them and if they are warmed up before you drive them. plus they are not that expensive to rebuild or pull apart.
cut the guy some slack.
personally i think that it would be worth the work because that car will F@#$ing fly!
hey, congrats WAY2LOW, hope the car goes well.
thanks |

pete,
obviously u dont know that much about rotors.. extendports r the most basic type of port and r basically extended stock ports. engine life isnt reduced that much with an extendport as opposed to a bridge or j port.
extendports are also known as street ports cause they still have good drivability and engine life.
as for lasting 6 months, it all depends how u drive it and look after it. if u dont warm them up or down and kane them all the time, the engine will only last 6 months, but so will a stocky. if u look after them, ie change plugs, oil, warm up and down, there is no reason why u wouldnt get 100 000km+ out of them.
a mate of mine has an rx7 with an extendport in it and he has been driving it for 2 years now as a DAILY DRIVER and he is yet to have a problem.
in short dont knock the rotors, there r lots of myths about them but all in all they r quite strong enines. |

yeah you guys took me the wrong way a bit i think. i was saying he is a tool in the same way i would say leroy is a tool 4 his 351 effort, like id never do it and i give him credit for having the nuts to do it.
but i had my ports mixed up, from the name i always remember extendport as being like a bridge port without the bridge, but yeah i am getting that from a very unreliable source so ill shut up now.
no offence WAY2LOW, i wasnt trying to hack on u. |
