"Brasso" also does the job well, just ask Matt Bywaters or Jones/Hones/Big Plans/arsehead, as i helped with the polishing of their camira rims.
its definitly worth a try, $3.00 per can cant go wrong there!

Heres a bit from my webpage in the "gemi build up" section on how i polished my steering rack and torque tube.
www.geocities.com/mygemi
What took the most time, besides moulding the crossmember, would have been hand polishing the steering rack. It came up like chrome, and let's just say that the dremel is now my favourite tool......1st a dry rub with 320, then a wet rub with 400, then 600, then 1200, then 2000, a dremel job with good old cutting compound - finally a nice hand polish with autosol.
cheers

Or you take it to BOWTIE RACING PRODUCTS who can polish it for you without the huge amounts of wet rubbing involved
