i have a 1600, heads been recond, what sort of webber would i need?

ia 32/36 weber on a port matched manifold would be perfect

again with the adaptor plates! I couldn't imagine restricting my intake by putting one of these on.

Question badger, do you actually do your own car work?
have you seen the gem weber conversion site?
do you know how to use a drill?
is your gem an auto?
cos, it seems to me that the most obvious problem with your hatred of adaptors, is that you have forgotten to grind the middle outta the gem manifold. do this and there is no fucking restiction!
its not hard to think outside the box[ or manifold] on this one.

which adaptor plate are you refering 2? The Redline? only has 1 Oval hole, there is another brand that has 2 holes and it appears a little more restrictive, but quicker to fit, less porting required.

Both types I have used and with a little porting, they appear to flow fine, in comparison to the Nikki on the standard manifold,

I would agree that it would flow better than the std nikki. if you port the adaptor it would certainly improve things somewhat, but it would never be as good as a manifold made to suit the carb you are using.

I do all my own work, but I have to admit I have never used the adaptor and 32/36. I had a 45dcoe, now running EFI on my gem.
