i've heard from a spraypainter that you can get away with enamel for the engine bay, it'll save you a bit of money, it'll resist the heat, and as it rarely sees sunlight you don't have to worry bout it fading

spray or brush......After trying to spray it on, with litle success, i will be going the brush alternative. Using spray cans is too frustrating, make a few strokes then have to shake it, brush will be easier.

hire a compressor, and if ur after an even finish this is the way to go. Theres a few different grades you can use. i used anti chip which is about 1mm thick and goes on well if used lightly. Slightly thicker is underbody schutz which is quite ruffish looking and is about 2-3mm thick depending on ur trigger finger.

it comes in black grey and white. You need a special gun for them but its only 60 bucks anyway. From memory the coatings are $15/ltr and i used 2ltrs on my wagon floor including wheel arches.

Its almost like a tar paint really and takes atleast a day to dry. If ur doin it this way its easier if the whole undercarriage is bare of any suspension. ALOT easier. I used the black and it came out semi gloss and has stayed that way. looks sweet with detailed suspension. Ideal for street class in shows too. Don't shoot urself in the foot if u plan on showing it later on, its a bitch to get these things off. took me 2 days and 5 wire wheels to clean my floor. So if u plan to show it, dont brush it. If you cant afford to spray it and do brush it, keep some thinners handy in a coffee tin to keep ur brush nice and soft.

Have fun and wear goggles coz its a bitch to clean up.
cheers
