Hey all, I'm having trouble deciding on what to do. A couple of weeks ago I bought a G200, minus the head, dizzy etc. What I'm wondering if it is worth trying to get it to run by stripping parts off a complete G161? I don't indend disturbing the crank or pistons, just bolt the other stuff right up and save me $$$ on a rebuild. My only concern is the pistons have marks in them from hitting the values. Will this be a problem? Well, if it doesn't work all I've lost a weekend and will have to get the rebuild after all.
Cheers, Greg. |

Nah I wouldnt worry. The cam chains probably broke, and the piston crowns have whacked the valves. With the cam chain broken, there wouldnt have been much resistance by the valve at time of impact.I've rebuilt motors where that has happened before , and the pistons have been fine.
However, since there appaears to have been a mishap, I would completely dissaemble the motor anyway, because you never know what you are getting. Lets face it, if you dont touch the bottom end, biuld it up, put it in, and it rattles, howe are you gonna feel ? |
