Hey Fellas,
Im buying a '81 TE gemini and i want a turbo engine for it but at a bit of a budget! I have looked at the 4ZC1 piazza motor, but i think i can get better power results out of a CA18DET motor plus this motor is fairly common. I have also looked at a SR20DET but cannot afford this motor so i think i'll do with the CA18DET!! My question is what will i need to fit this engine straight into the gemini? I wanna try and do this myself but If i can't fit the engine myself then ill have to get some1 to fit it for me! Thanks fellas!! Justin |

man have a good think about an FJ20...
either you will definately be able to fit yourself.
get custom engine mounts made up and go from there. there is a heap of work involved in any conversion so dont think that it will just be a little weekend job,, that is if you want it to be legal. |

what ever you chose, do a search
this will tell ya most of what you need to know
THEN once youve found some stuff out yourself
come back and ask more specific questions |

the only cost differecne in a ca, fj, sr conversion is the price of the engine. the conversions are all basicly the same. _________________

fj20-
not including the cost of the box. to put it in stock i would say have $4000 ready to flush.
but as u go im sure u will speind more.
VERY quick run down (these are cheap prices, may cost more, but not less)
engin and box - $1500
bigger fuel lines - $100
surge tank - $100
bigger fuel pumps - $200
rising fuel reg' - $200
custom mounts - $150
custom gearbox mounts - $150
hydrolic clutch peddle - $200
custom rear sump - $200 - $300
custom oil pick up - $150
custom exhaust manifold (stockone hits the fire wall)- $600
brake upgrade - $450
(im sure somethings will cost a bit more and somethings u may find cheaper but that all adds up to $4100)
then im sure if your getting a custom manifold u will get a bigger turbo. and im sure u will want a FMIC. so thers another $1500-$2000 ontop.
+ engineering- $1000ish (4 engin, gearbox, FMIC and brakes)
+ insurance - easy over $1000
+ rego - $500ish _________________
