Hey all, I've just gotten my 1.8L motor going (quite an achievement, its been sitting for 4-5 years I'd say) but I have a problem with the drivetrain. When I pulled the motor out ages ago, the tailshaft didn't seperate from the gearbox very easily, and pulled what its connected to out a bit. Now that its all back together, it isn't engaging the diff, just making grinding noises.
What I need to know is weather or not I can just drop the tailshaft down, put that spring back (I forgot to put it back) and jam the thing after the tailshaft back into the diff? Or am I looking at serious money to fix (this is on my bush basher btw)
Cheers

pull your tailshaft out and hit the flange that the tailshaft hooks up to witha hammer or push it back in |

Yeah, I worked it out for myself in the end (no-one replied fast enough). Anyway, she goes good now so just a matter of time before the motor is in my road gem
