ok, i've got a new head, i cant find shit with a test pencil. i've found 2 wires that light up the tp on the of, acc and on settings.... can this work if i plug all the leads of the head unit *earth, ignition and posative* onto this one lead?
i wouldnt think you could.
i heard u could wire it straight to the battery, which sounds easiest, but u need a fuse? what the fuck? or the alternator. then the earth to a bolt on the fire wall or something.
and where the fuck is an ignition switch?
i am serious stuck, any help would be sweet as |

simple
if you want ya head unit to turn on regardless of the ignition do this:
positive and ignition from head unit - to a COSTANT 12V (ie straight to the battery)
negative from head unit - to either the chasis or any other metal part of the car or even better the negative terminal of the battery!
Thats IT!!!

yellow wire....constant power..can be run to the battery but yes u must put in a fuse...closer to the battery the better..not for it to work but for saftey... if the wire gets a cut in it and touches the body it will be like one big heater element and set fire to stuff but with a fuse itwill blow that and be safe.
Red wire....Acc power i run this from the ciglighter wire aswell as the earth.
Black wire.....Earth/Neg any bolt going to the body of the car is an earth. the whole body is earth so if you out a selftapping screw through an oring terminal straight into the floorpan it will work( better if you scrub the surface to bare metal first. but i just normaly hook it in with the cigligter earth...wires are there close to the head unit... |

I was told by an auto elec specialist dealing with audio. The best thing to do is Wire up ur constant (yellow postive memory wire from head unit) to a constant in the cabin rather then to ur battery but still fuse it to be on the safe side.
With ur acc, simply pull of ur steering coloum console get a multimeter set it on 12volts, then turn ur key to acc on, and find which wire is giving off 12volts, make sure u do this on the lock barrel side not on the indicators. Once ya find it, simply connect ur head unit Acc to it.
Ur earth like anyone said ne where to ur body, but also got told Ur earth wire (black) should be connected inside the cabbin like eg to the neg. Cig lighter.
The guy said this because sometimes u tend to get alternator noise thru the stereo due to connecting it to the battery. And gemini wiring systems aren't the best depdning on the condition of ur gem.
anyway hope this helps ya out sorry for going on so long.

You have a TE, so the acc is the blue wire the original radio was connected to (find the wire behind where you fit the head unit, you may have to do a little searching). Connect this to the acc wire on the new head unit (the book will tell you which one it is).
Attach a wire with a fuse (the book tells what amp) to the memory on the head unit (again the book will tell you which one it is).
Sand part of the body you cant see under the dash to bare metal and attach the Eath to this point (this wire is always black).
Then connect the speakers using new speaker wire or attach the headunit to an amp using rca leads. Hope this helps. |

I answered your question about this yesterday. Prolly a page or two back in this forum. Sorry dude, i have zero experience with stezz instals other than the basic instaling and rewiring of speakers. I still have the stock stereo in my car as i'm more engine orientated with cars.
You've got a nice offer from SBG81 to lend a hand, and as an added bonus he's an electrician. He would be a thousand times more helpful in this department than i would. Apologies for being useless in the stezza department, i should have told you that i was no good to you there. |
