Hi everyone i am new to hot gemini.
I am looking around for a TE Sedan and want to put a 12A rotary in it.
I was wondering what is involved in doing the conversion.
I own a mazda RX-4 at the moment and know a fair bit about the engines and can do most of the mechanical work myself.
just a few Questions-
has anyone done this in adelaide before?
Is it Legal to do this in adelaide?
who is best to talk to about this.
does anyone know where i can get a decent TE from?
Thankyou.
any help would be much appreciated |

i was looking into it as well. alot of workshops will do it but then you have to get it engeneered. but it seems like an easy conversion. ive come across a few sites heres one with a couple of pics for an idea. www.mrenforcer.com.au |

if your garage is set-up well enough and you have acess to a welder, crane and mechanicaly minded people. give it ago yourself. the only hard part i can see is the cutom sump and engine mounts. but i wouldnt know. talk to tx_rota he done this conversion. |

i have done it: 13B race pp into a tx coupe. widened tunnel, chopped firewall, custom frigging everything that touches the gem. take my advice: if u want more than a burnout machine spend the dollars and have a race fabricator set it up. Most rotary conversions i have seen were shit, even with these "off the shelve kits" the motor sits too far forward, high and on a acute angle (chews out uni's) for anything better than crap handling. it has cost me $4000 so far to fit it as there is a lot of fidding with bits and pieces. gonna go but! no friggin turbo's for me!
cheers |

im actually down in the north eastern burb's.
yes i have done the conversion, pretty simple, just made up a crossmember and bolted it between the chassis rails. the engine does sit on a bit of an angle, but i havent had ne problems with it and the car drives fine. goes well too for that matter, gotta 13.8 outta it on a gtech, but thats a bit optamistic i think, probably more like a 14.0-14.5 thats with a 12a extend, stock carby and a close ratio rx5 5speed.
if ya wanna have a look at it for yaself email me at a20b4me@hotmail.com and we can organise a time for u to have a look if ya want. or else i would sell the car for $2k firm, as ive spent too frigging much on it and ill never get the money back. at the moment the car isnt much too look at as ive stripped the thing down to respray it so the paint is f$#@ but the amount ive spent, all the hard work is done, just needs body work now! |

Speak to either RPM or for a rotary specialist speak to Mildren Race Engineering. Both are in Adelaide and both have done these conversions before. They will tell you what is involved and give you a rough quote |
