hey ...
i own a 78 td sedan and when i bought it, the engine had already been worked on, the people i bought it off gave me some documents saying what has been done to the G161 engine...
BORE & HONE 4 CYLINDER PETROL
ASS & ALIGN PETROL CONROD x4
BALANCE 4 CYLINDER PETROL
LIGHTEN & GRIND FLY WHEEL
ENGINE REBUILD KIT
(Pins-010" Mains-010" Bore-040")
and a Redline dual barrel downdraught sports carbie
my question is how much peformance sould i expect out of this engine .. and what other mods can a do to it?
great thanks to anyone who reply's |

It sounds like its a reasonabley stock motor. Lightening the flywheel will give you a bit better acceleration, balancing the bottom end will give you a few more revs, and boring the motor will give you a bit more compression, but performance is in the head and cam. If they dont mention it I wouldnt hold my breath for great performance. Will be better than standard 1600, but i wouldnt want to see you race a standard 2 litre gemi. Sorry |
