Ok, installed a tape deck into my girls mums stock Gemi.
After a long time working out what wires went where, (Made no bloody sense) we got it working. Hooked it up to permanent power, and it drained the battery... So now it is hooked up to an indicator, which means there is no memory....Does anyone know how to get permanent power without draning the battery????
Cheers |

You should find that there'll be two power wires, one switched by your accesories and one permanent power, you probably found the accesories lead and hooked it up to permanent. Yellow is normally permanent power and usually is thicker and has an inline fuse and a smaller diameter red line should be switched or accessories power. Check it out again... Or track down data sheets on it or manufacturer data... |

You're sertain that was the drain??? All power wires were covered after you terminated them??? Does the head unit have an on/off switch on it??? Eg the volume knob. Maybe its designed to be like that so that it can be listened to when the cars off. Bit of a stoopid idea but... Without seein it or some data on the head deck i can't really help more than simple obvious stuff... |

have you hooked up the remote power there is two power supplies remote power and permanent power, one keeps the memory and one turns the head unit on when the ignition is turned on.the remote power turns the head unit on when the car is turned on and permanent power will keep the memory on the head unit while the car is off if they are wrong it will use the battery all the time i have put in lots of head units and i have had this happen and i have got it down pat |
