|
|
i've just started noticing a very low bassy vibration coming from the rear end of my gem when travelling over about 70km/h... i think it may be worse when there is a passenger in the front... it is a constant low hum and is really pissing me off.. i have had a quick look at the rear suspension etc but cannot find anything obvious!
any other ideas as to what it could be?
cheers

Has your car been lowered? Are your shocks worn? Does your front sway bar touch the sump? Centre torque tube mount worn?

yeh mooch has been lowered and still has original shocks (obviously time to replace) was hoping it would be something else... and didn't really sound like shocks (ie. it's more of a constant vibration rather than knocking sound i'd expect from shockers)
anyway i think i'll replace the shocks and see if it fixes the prob
cheers

its ya torque tube shaft...its bent!!! jack the front and the back of ya car right up off the ground(so oil dont run outa ya diff coz its level)...put it on stands, unbolt ya tailshaft off the diff, and unbolt the extension housing off the front of the diff(4 hex bolts), and unbolt the crossmember joined to the extension housing off the body, an replace the extension housing. ive bent 3 of them now an it aint all that hard to do. usually bend em if ya dump it with considerable weight in ya car ie:4 people and 2 12" subs in a giant box. |
