im asuming yyour talking about the izusu "lov" ute. same engine as the desile gem's. i have one and geplace the diff center not long ago and the centers a NOTHING alike. but then u have izusu rodeo utes... but still they ran a different diff all together.
u can use the LSD center from a VB-VK _________________

i dont see how a commodore diff centre will go in a gem diff. commodores have a rear loading carrier and correct me if im wrong but gems are banjo front loading type like the rodeo and all the holdens before the commodore. it would be cheaper and easier to get a whole commodore diff made to fit. not to many rodeos were lsd and commodores are getting hard to find and dearer to buy. heres a tip dont fit wide tyres and your diff will last heaps longer. |

ok so when me and a mate went to the aussie diff shhop and paid for a VB-VK center and had them put it in... we must have been dreaming and then woke up with a LSD in my mates car... (which obviosly happened by magic)
early commos had the same diff, hence why the DISK brake set up bolts straight on. some older torannas had the same diff (i have been told so im not 100% on it) and allso the EH etc banjo LSD centers will fit with some shims made up around the bearing plate/shim thingos.
as for the diff difs in the wagon and coupe. the wagon has different mounting points thats it, unless your coupe is a TX then it has a different diff all together. _________________

and the only different between a PV diff and a sedan diff is the rear shock mounts.
You can put a PV diff in a sedan with Torana rear shocks, but you cannot put a sedan diff in a PV.
cheers

Mr. Bob,
Geminis do not have a Banjo style centre. You can tell by looking underneath where you can see a diff cover plate, just like a Commodore. From memory TD onwards had the Salisbury rear end which has the same brake mountings and diff centre carrier as early Commodores and UC Toranas.

oh so your not talking about a real diff then your talkin banjo 6&4cyl diff. good luck finding a lsd or a fine spline. wouldnt give ya ten bucks for one ive changed more of em than id care to remember. why not get a VL diff cut down to fit its easy twice as strong as a banjo. you cant just say vb-vk diff coz theres more than one type. |

ahh i get yas now. by all means correct me i dont own a gem and never have and maybe one day will. ive driven one a few times in anger off road(oh the understeer and that short travel front suspension) and the only thing ive ever done to a gem is point out to a dickhead qualified ultratune mechanic mate of mine that "no fella that dont go on there thats da vaccuume for the brake booster not the heater hose." fuckin idiot im never gunna let him forget. and i adjusted the points on one in the casino one night for a guy i knew coz his beast wouldnt start. so im here to learn. ive got a brother in the market for his first car and im contemplating finding a wagon to stick this 2.3&5spd in that ive got sitting here. feel more than free to learn me and in return i may even learn you a little. talkin about diffs and holdens. so your meaning the uc torana sailsbury type diff and the 4&6 cyl commo diffs. youd be pressed to find discs on a torana one but the commodore 6cyl sle and slx there would be a few of them arround. as for lsd it would depend on the spec of the car new. these centres will fit in a gem diff fairly easy cos they are the same size? is that right? and the whole UC diff will fit in the gem. is that right and how hard is it to do??? is the track the same? i imagine it would be a little to wide. |
