ok its been 3 weeks now and the dead starter motor remains.
How ! the hell do i pull it out because it keeps hitting the steering arm. No i dont want to take an engine mount off and jack the engine up, there has to be another way
can someone please list the steps in doing it another way !!! thanks a lot |

well ill take it that u have an EGR valve sitting underneath your inlet manifold. the way that i deal with it is jack up the sump (keep the mount as it is. it will have a bit of stretch in it)to the east side and that will give you enough room to get the starter motor out from the bottom.
its not that hard

Yeah I had the same problem, there stuff all space to get it out.
I changed 1 in a TD sedan manual.
First I removed the wires, than removed the bolts/nuts holding it in. (probably where you're @)
To get it out I turned/pulled it to the front of the motor and pulled it out INFRONT of the upper radiator hose.
(hard to explain)
Used same method to put the new one in. (in reverse)
Just play around with it, u will find a way to move it past the steering arm.

yeah i tried pulling it to the front but it hits the brake booster and the inlet manifold
i was gonna take either one of them off ?? is that a good idea |

turn it 90 degrees anti clockwise, push it up against block, and therell be enough space to slide it forward, just did this yesterday.... |

just take the engine mount off....
takes 2 minutes to do and saves you a shit load of time! |
