G'day mate,
i would suggest g180.reason is, use to have a turbo charged g200 and it could only do about 115 mph at about 6500 rpm,
i have since put a g180 turbo charged in her and she now does 123 mph and i have noticed that the g180 revs higher 123 mph at about 6900 rpm. i would go with the g180 heaps better and cheaper on fuel

i disagree with you mike (turbo tg) the reason ur g180 went better with ur turbo is because of the shorter stroke, if you are force feeding an engine you need revs and don't want the longer stroke you have in a g200.
so in your case a g180 was more appropriate.
If the engine is goin N/A as before mentioned. the extra torque found in a g200 would be very useful in a lightly worked street car. that being said, i have a g180 and cam, weber, extractors, g161 head, and i have found myself beating many g200 and g161 powered gems on the drag strip.
I have found the g180 to have a nice balance between torque and high end power.
so both options are good, i say firsty get whatever is available to you. if you have access to either engine its all about what you want the engine to do. If you want good low down torque go the 2ltr, its especially good if you carry your mates around... the difference in power loss with to an empty car will be less than that of the g180.
if you want it to rev a bit harder then go for the g180.
personally i think the g180 is a beeter all round engine, but thats just me. _________________

Keep in mind dubbin that the twin cam engines are harder to find parts for, which means the parts for them when you can find them are pretty expensive. For example a mate of mine needed a new head gasket in his g180w and it cost him $300. Also the standard Gemi gearbox doesn't bolt up to them, have to use the DOHC box which is also hard to find.
Hope that helps |
