Id go SOHC as well. Actually I did go SOHC.
$8K isnt really alot. Good work costs alot of money even if you know people. A turbo, custom manifold, good intercooler and piping, will cost close to $4000, even if you know people. Mine didnt but I mistakenly got the worong people to do some of my stuff, and will have to pay more money to get the right people to fix it up/do it again. |

Big turbos give a better feeling when you drive them. All that lag then Bang, right in the back. Plus you save on fuel driving with lag. |

people talk about lag but if you wanted to drag some one of the line couldnt you keep the revs just at the start of boost then take off on boost

yes, thats how most autos work, then hind out when there turbo kicks in, then but a stally in about 200rpm lower then the boost level (so it dont bag up of the line) _________________

yeah so why would people go oh but the big one has lotsa lag i reakon that would be better being able to cruise and when you drag you got more power than with a small one also
i guess its how you drive and how everything is set up
yeah a mates got a charger (not turbo just worked as)
has a 3000 stall converter
stalls it up and the back end lifts like all fuck he cain an r 32 lol
though would be hard to drive i reakon |

people rave about lag coz you cant just put your foot down and go, you have to get the revs up first. It can be annoying. Sure you can rev this shit out of your car to spool the turbo up at the lights, but its kinda a giveaway then |

Fuck it a turbo is a turbo. I would rather a smaller quick spooling one for the street though. If its too big by the time you ghet to the next lights youve only just hit some good boost and the other guy has waxed you because he has good power straight away. Who wants to sit at the lights and stall the car to 4000rpm before taking off at everydrag you have. Id rather be sneaky and give it small amount of revs, then when he takes off, floor it and come from a bit behind so he thinks hes gonna win, and then smoke em. Thats just my 2c though |

well actually its's near $30000 now cause as loz said i got the wrong people to do mine the first time (fuckin gemi shop) and now i've had to just rebuild my dohc and the turbo and buy a bov that works properly.
but for $2600 you to can have a 20psi dohc donk built. |

4000 rpm is not much lag at all especially on an fj20
its when it doesnt kick till 5000 - 5500 u got lag problems and your ass end kicks the kerb.
i too would prefer something coming on boost at about 3500, and whats wrong with driving on boost all the time |
