i was chatting to a mate the other day and he said it my not be my rings that are stuffed it might be my valve stem seals
is this true? are these cheep to replace?
is it as bad as the rings? |

are you burning oil? if so do a compression test first and if it's okay you can change stem seals on the car ...marc |

well oils getting sucked into the carby so yeah i woudl be burning oil that way
what should compression be if i get my hands on the stuff to do a test? |

If you're getting oil in your air cleaner that's getting sucked into the carby, then you're getting "blow-by", it's the rings. Valve stem seals will give a puff of blue smoke on start-up and then be fine while you're driving.
Compression should be within 10% of each other, but if it's below 100psi, it's alot worn. Squirt a teaspoon of oil down the plug hole and repeat each cylinder. If the compression rises, it's also a sign the rings are worn.

yeah its just smoke at start up but hell blow by thats what i told him he is liek nah coudl be your valve stems
all i know is i might be buying a yellow wagon soon |
