hey there just recently i've noticed that my gem has been backfiring alot when dropping down in gears and it has concerned me. with the miss firing i think that it is due for a new set of spark plugs, there is also one other thing when i drive and i break hard the car seems to just konk out on me is this because the car is not idling high enough just now it is idling at 1000rpm.

cheeers

Yeah just try plugs and points and stuff like that. I cant help you with the cutting out but it is actually meant to idle at 900rpm.

If it's an auto, check your transmission fluid level (engine hot & running). A low level can seem like misfiring when revving, cornering or braking.
