g'day

I recently bought a TE Gemini, to find out that there's a problem getting it registered. The keys are able to be pulled out when the car is running, and the locksmith said the ignition has been warn. He said that they could fix it without guarantee or to go to a wrecker and try and find one. if these possibilities both fail, is there anything else i can do? Are there any other ignitions that will fit into this model. Any help is appreciated.

not sure if they are the same but my tg ignition in my tc is tight as. cant pull the key out if you try. cuase of the way they sit there is a lot less stress put on them by heavy keyrings would be my guess.

spud, ur tg ignition fits into ur tc?? barrels are in different spots but it did fit did it? all gemmy ignition barrels shitém selves, poor quality from new, some can be fixed by locksmiths or go to the wreckers and try and find a good one, redcliffe wreckers sell rooted ones for 35 + gst... bastards!

The bloke at the locksmith place said $110. I called up a few wreckers but they all seemed to have the same problem so the gem's booked in for tuesday morning to get it done. hopefully it'll work, otherwise i'm buggered.

Heres the thing, the needles and springs in the barrel are around 20 years old as are your keys. You can replace the needles and springs. The keys, however, are a different story, you can get a new one cut but it will be the same shape as your worn out one. So to overcome this as much as possible search around for the best shaped key you can find and get it cut. Unless you want to make a key from scratch but its touchy to get it perfect.
