When you change your gearbox to a five speed. the reason you grab the tailshaft is not becuase it is smaller. It is because the tailshaft has a finer and more splines in it. So adam or whoever please change the misconception in the workshop

| Some 5 speeds are coarse spline, some are fine spline. |

Yeah, he is right. The tailshaft lengths are the the same, only the spline differs.

| when you put a five speed where your old 4 speed was, are the mounts the same and does the shifter line up? |

yeah everthing lines up but just make sure the tailshaft splines are the same
