Too much compression, warped head, warped block(it does happen) incorrect torque settings, cheap n nasty head gaskets etc etc etc etc _________________

Too much pinging will cause it too.(incorrect timing)
How often is often for a head gasket?
I change one every year almost (1600 head on 2L)
(you get really good at it after a while ) |

are you using a 1600 gasket on your 2lt block or a 2lt gasket?
what brand r u using?
my personal preference is permaseal, after too many problems with monotorque (they need retorquing)
and have you bored the 2lt out far and if yes then you probably need a copper head gasket _________________

If the engine has over heated a bit the the head could have also gone soft, hence the gasket blowing everytime the engine gets too warm. If the hex bolts have made indents in the head then you can pretty much throw it away. Get the block o-ringed and it should be sorted. |

Yeah Permaseal are the dogs nuts as far as Im concerned.
The 2L is 40 thou over and the gasket is G200. The water galleries on the head have been grooved to mate the gasket properly. |
