the rear parcel shelf cost me $80. i went, gave the guy the old one, cam back in few days, and picked up a new one, not in cherplate, but this other shinny shit, looks tons betta i rekon

It may look pretty nice, I plan to build a wagon one day which will have polished aluminium door trim. The question is, how much more weight do you want to add to a car?
If performance is your main criteria, removing weight is more important. If you are building a car for looks, then adding weight isn't an issue.
