Hey, im guessing quite a few of you on here have done an Auto to manual swap in a gem before, i was wondering if you can tell me whether this is true or not...i was reading my Gregory's Gemini book and it says that to get the auto box off the motor, u need to pull the motor out...i personally think thats bullshit but if anyone can tell me how they did it, i would be very grateful. Also are there any complecations i am likely to come across while converting my gem to a manual? i already have a donor car, so i have all the gear..but is there anything else thats likely to cause me problems? Thanks |

I don't know if you HAVE to but as I'm about to do that exact swap, and I have an engine hoist handy ( off a friend) I thought it would be easier to just rip it all out. Plus I want to detail my engine and engine bay anyway. |

Having changed engines/gearboxes both by removing them together and by seperating them in situ I highly recommend the former. |
