Hey,
I'm in the process of getting rid of all the tan and brown trim out of my 82 TF and was interested to here what you all thought of the idea of taking my dash to the trimmers and getting it covered. Has anyone done this and if so were the results worth the money, and speaking of money, how much would I be looking at paying.

Or would I be better saving the money and just boging the cracks and sprying it with vinal paint.

u could do that but the vynal spray will wear off. if you get it recovered it looks the best and you can get like hilights of differt colours in some parts like around the gauges and that looks hell good. it is farily pricey though mine cost 350 but it was worth it. |

$350 isn't to bad I'm going to do a run around and get some quotes this week but I've got my rego coming up and need some new tyres first so it might be a little while before I get it done. Thanks,

The dash in my Gem had 6 large cracks in it and I had picked up a dash from the wreckers which had none. So I was asking myself the same question, do I get the crack free dash recovered or get some vinyl spray. I rang some local auto upholsterers and was told that only one place in WA did them and there sent to QLD to be done. The quote I got,
which was about 5 months ago was $280, this included freight costs there and back. I decided to go with the vinyl spray in black (trying to get rid of the brown to) and the end job I was happy with. I was hoping it would last a while but 3 weeks ago I found a crack in it (bugger)
So if you can afford it I'd get it recovered. Dont waste your time with vinyl sprays which are just a cover up anyway.
Gra.
P.S. I've just picked up another crack free dash and I'm going to get it recovered soon when I've enough cash saved up. |
