well i have a problem thats driving me nuts.
When i Turn a corner (fast)
(not getting sideways, just a fast shapr corner coz my car is lowered and its fun the whole car cuts out.
I mean it loses complete power.
if i do it at night, my headlights turn off and i lose accersories lights and the car just dies.
that is until i straighten up the vehicle and turn from left to right real quick (while rolling) and then it kicks in again.
well thats when iturn left...maybe right.
anyways when i turn a hard right i hear a huge clunk noise (centre console area) I was thinking it could be the tailshaft.
any ideas on both my problems???
Cheers

As far as the thing cutting out while cornering hard, maybe it's fuel surge problems. I get this fairly often as my car is sideways more often than straight (fun little bastards Gemini's are), and when i'm a bit low on fuel the thing goes to cut out coz i'm starving the pump every so often. Maybe have a look at fitting a surge tank (about 1 litre) in the boot. You'll need 2 pumps, 1 to feed the surge tank & 1 to feed the carb. Any custom alloy workshop should be able to help you out in some way.
And with the clunk, not too sure bout that one. Maybe it's the uni's. Or depending if it has a centre bearing, it may be a possibility - but that's purely a guess so don't quote me on that one.

My TX used to cut out around left handers when I had the standard Nikki on it. This was due to fuel surge to the RHS of the float bowl away from the pickup.
Electical, you have a short somewhere... especially if many of your systems are cutting out. Unless some sneaky bastard has put in a mercury switch... |

I'd be checking the battery connection, the fusible links, the fuse box itself, the main earth leads... something somewhere is coming loose...
How well held down is your battery?
As for the clunk check your gearbox crossmember, torque tube mount and rubbers and trailing arm/panhard rod bushes. |

if you have a TE onwards you can create a bigger battery bracket, from the 10mm bolt hole in front of the battery on the radiator support, to the rear usual battery support,
this way you can fit a 13 plate no problems,
cheers,

Say, the + terminal wouldnt be touching the bonnet when you corner by any chance would it? That is if the battery is wrong. Try insulating it really well and see if it will do it.
Do you own a fire extinguisher? |
