Joe and Adam, top sight.
Didn't use the computer that much till I found this, now I don't get to bed till after midnight sometimes.
Anyway, Adam, was using the search function for 'brakes'. Came across a posting from you, 16/11/00, regarding waiting on an e-mail about a brake conversion. Did anything eventuate?
Also you stated that it would be put in the 'tips' section under development. Could a section be added to the Workshop on brakes. People may not know about the EBC pad replacement for their standard calipers and others may have more tips.

My my... I'm very impressed... the brake upgrade was very similar to the GemiSpares setup, this is the email he was distributing at the time.

The upgrade costs $840 which includes brand new (not rebuilt) PBR early
model Commodore callipers, brand new DBA standard rotors , two new brake
hoses and calliper mounts. The conversion requires the car be fitted with
TX stub axles(they have calliper mounts that are bolted to the stub unlike
TD and latter stub axles that have the calliper mount included in the stub
axle casting) and I also need the front hub rotor assembly so I can machine
the hub to suit the new rotor. The price for the conversion can be
decreases to $480 if you choose to source the Commodore callipers and disc
rotors your self. Hope to hear from you in the near future. A quick break
down of the price goes something like so:
$200 = Calipers, $200 = Rotors, $100 = Hoses. The rest of the cost is the
actual manufacture of adaptor brakets and machining of the hubs to suit the
rotors. The hoses are specially made for the conversion and are not an off
the shelf item. The rotor used is aviable from DBA as a crossed drilled
and slotted unit I am awaiting a call from my component supplier for a
price which I'll pass on. As you are modifying the car may need an
engineer's certificate if you intend to use it on the road, depends on
which state the car is registered and what the laws are. We have them
fitted to a number of cars that are based in WA and they have had to be
inspected by WA Transport officers and modification approvals issued. Look

Ta for the info. Have the calipers and rotors lying around, getting a TX coupe wreck, work for autObarn so hoses shouldn't be a problem, and know the owner of an engineering shop. Have an idea I'm going to experiment with. Let you know if it works.
