Hey peoples...
Gotsta problem with the gemmy.
Well the temperature gauge is fucked and somethings getting stuck up its ass and its being real retarded.
Basically after the automatic choke has been taken off (rev the car) and the motor is warm...the gauge reads about half.
Also when this happens if its dark and i turn the headlights on, the temperature gauge goes up even higher. I know for a fact that the fken thing isnt overheating but when i go for a five minute drive (not driving hard) it sits on the 'H' meaning hot. when i pop the hood, nothings overflowing and the cap is still touchable...no way near overheating.
When i put any indicator on, the charge chage goes down then up a tiny bit (which i presume is normal) but when that happens, the temp. gauge wants to play the same game and jump up and down with the indicator. Its really confusing and scary just about every time i drive the old fella.
Well can anyone help.
I have bought a new temp. sender but to no evail.
Cheers

You've got a short in the wires - somewhere the wire for your temp gauge may be earthing out. That's how I tested my temp gauge the other day - by earthing it out it goes right up to hot! |

Start at the gauge and follow the wire out to the sender unit. |

Well I dunno cause I'm not an auto-electrician, if I was I'd be a millionarre - but I imagine if you use the same grade wire that would work. I think you've got other probs tg1985 maybe your gauge? - all I can advise you is that it pays to get the fucking thing working - cost me a headgasket cause I put off a 10 minute job to fix the gauge!! |
