Has anyone ever thought of buying a new set of piazza rotors, which I assume bolt straight on to the gemi stub axel, and then doing a caliper conversion. Say magna, commodore, volvo 4 spot.
You can get new Slotted piazza rotors for $130 each. This might be easier and cheaper than getting hold of a complete set of piazza brakes.
It would make it a much smaller job.

Ideas??

Cheers, Loz

Where can you get the rotors?

i think sprint auto parts, repco, rocca brothers (adelaide) and basically any other auto parts store should be able to order them in. if not try a brake specialist.

I think I remeber reading that they dont bolt straight onto the gemini stub axle, but I have never tried it. It might also be quite tricky to get another calliper to bolt onto the stub axle as well.

3mm??? Please explain what you mean.
The specs I was given say the rotors are 250mm (gemi ones are 239mm) and 8mm thicker (for the ventilation).
the hole for the stub axel is the same size for both. Only the distance from hub to other edge is slightly smaller for the piazza.

Well as far as doing a whole brake conversion goes you have to make another caliper fit anyway. So it shouldn't be that much of an issue. I just thought it could save time as the rotor part would require no mods.

The one thing they don't tell you in the DBA catalogue is how the hub attaches to the rotor. On the Gem, the rotor is drilled and thread tapped, is it in the Piazza?

Whaddya mean the 'one' thing... they don't tell you the inside diameter of the swept area, they don't tell you the inside diameter of the 'bell', they don't tell you the thickness of the mounting face.... in case you couldn't tell I've spent a bit of time reading the DBA catalogue, and while it is a great resource it frustrates me a little...

You said you where going to use commodore / volvo etc calipers, these take a 22mm or greater disc thickness. A piazza is only 19mm brand new whith a bit of pad wear you might find the pads will fall out... Michael
