Hi All,
Does anyone put the DOHC 180W and 200W (i think) with EFi in their Gem's? I've only ever seen a handful and of them and only about 2 were actually running... Does anyboday out there have any suggestions for mods, or any experience with working them?
Where do I get gasket for a rebuilt and what suggestions could be put for for the fitting of a Turbo?
I've already got a T3, VL turbo injectors and most of the plumbing (inc intercooler) to fit it, but I don't know what I'll need to do when I rebuild the engine to match it?
Any suggestions are welcome.
Cheers,
Ross.
PS if anyones got one that's dead I'd be interested for parts as I don't imagine I could get pistons in Australia easily. |

Don't quote me on this but a mate had a DOHC 180 in his gemini a few years back with webbers and from memory he said Rodeo pistons will fit, Might have to check the valve to piston clearances.
If you gunna turbo it you'll prob best go with forged pistons anyway. And just get them custom made to suit with the right height to get the compression down.

im in the rebuild boat myself
and if you are gonna go turbo you may as well spend a few dollars and make the engine bullet proof so u can run plenty of boost without it shitting itself
there is one place i know of that can get parts for these engines and as u can imagine it is a bloody ripoff
410 bucks for all the gaskets btw |

I have had a lot of experience with the 2.0lt DOHC gem engine.I just stipped the head down tonight.Tomorrow I am getting the valves reworked for the second time.Let me know what info you need.As for gaskets use the head gasket and silastic for just about everything else.
You can reuse the sump gasket.$410 for gaskets is a ripoff.
check out my web site www.alphalink.com.au/~gem if you want any info (except cam specs and how to get more than me)
I will try and help. BTW my race car has about 150hp at the wheels. |

Good to see someone with some info on these engines! the last few weeks have been pretty good for getting some solid stuff on the engine which will help a whole lot when it comes to rebuilding it.
quick question though, where do you get your gaskets from? or do you use custom ones? would you recommend a copper gasket?
any help would be great
cheers
