i jus got a set of 17s n the first nite out with 'em i got defected, the copa goes that i hav 2 get 'em engineered.. wat would need 2 b done?

Take it to a licenced RWC centre that also does modification/engineering plates, and get the mechanic to have a look at them. If the offset isn't too drastic, and they don't foul anywhere on the vehicle, you should be right. Once he passes it, he might put a blue metal tag somewhere in the engine bay to say to all those arsehole's in blue that the car is in a roadworthy condition, then they'll leave you alone.

just so you know, the reason they do need to be engineered is also for reasons like that they will affect the track of the car (changing speed of speedo) and thus if u get done speeding you could say "but i didnt think i was" and get off, coz they are allegal the copers can book u anyway.

To engineer them (i looked into it) it cannot touch anything at full lock in either direction. ie. strut or guard. depending on the offset that may mean coil-overs!
more likely though itl be cool and get engineered easy
